Om (Pranava)

ॐ

oṃ (a-u-m)

अर्थ: The sacred syllable that opens and closes most mantras and prayers. The Mandukya Upanishad reads it as three sounds, A, U and M, matching waking, dreaming and deep sleep, followed by the silence beyond.

Said at the start of prayers, rituals and study across Hindu, Buddhist and Jain traditions.

कसरी उच्चारण गर्ने
  • a: as in 'father', open the mouth
  • u: as in 'put', moving forward
  • m: close the lips and let the hum resonate

Chanted slowly on one long exhale, usually for about 10 to 20 seconds.
