What it does

Finds the sign, degree, house and nakshatra of Ketu at your birth, and says whether the point is retrograde, combust or in a strong or weak sign.

Why it matters

In the tradition Ketu stands for detachment, intuition, the past and release. Where it sits shows which sign's style colours those themes and which area of life (house) they touch.

How it is worked out

  1. The astronomy engine computes Ketu's apparent position as seen from your birth place at your birth moment (checked against NASA JPL reference data).
  2. The (about 24°) is subtracted to move from the seasonal to the .
  3. Sign = longitude ÷ 30°. Nakshatra = longitude ÷ 13°20′, pada = the quarter within it. House (whole-sign) = count of signs from your .
  4. The sign is compared with the traditional tables (exalted, own, friend, neutral, enemy, debilitated).

How to read your result

  • Sign and degree: the planet's exact place on the zodiac belt. Near 0° or 29° it is close to a boundary and is the first thing to change if the birth time is off.
  • Nakshatra and pada: the finer star-station; the nakshatra's own ruler also matters in the tradition.
  • House: which life area the planet occupies. It needs your birth time, because the houses depend on the rising sign.
  • Dignity, retrograde and combust flags: tradition reads them as the planet being comfortable, inward or overpowered by the Sun's glare.

What it cannot tell you

Ketu is a calculated point (the Moon's descending node), not a body, and it always sits exactly opposite Rahu. Meanings are traditional symbols for reflection, not predictions.
