Understand this calculator

What it does

Shows all sixteen standard divisional charts at once (Rasi, Hora, Drekkana, Chaturthamsa, Saptamsa, Navamsa, Dasamsa, Dwadasamsa, Shodasamsa, Vimsamsa, Siddhamsa, Bhamsa, Trimsamsa, Khavedamsa, Akshavedamsa and Shashtiamsa).

Why it matters

Each divisional chart zooms into one area of life (for example D9 for marriage, D10 for career, D12 for parents). Together they are called the shodashavarga.

How it is worked out

  1. For each chart the engine splits every sign into the chart's number of equal slices (2, 3, 4, 7, 9, 10, 12, 16, 20, 24, 27, 30, 40, 45 or 60).
  2. Each planet's slice is mapped to a sign by the chart's own Parashari rule.
  3. A checksum is stored for each chart so the result can be reproduced.

How to read your result

  • Choose a chart from the tabs; the title shows its name and the rule version used.
  • The deeper the division (D40, D45, D60), the more a small time error changes the result, and the less reliable it is without an exactly known birth time.

What it cannot tell you

Sixteen charts is a lot of detail; astrologers weigh D1 and D9 most. Some charts (for example D30) use special unequal rules that the tool labels.
