Understand this calculator

What it does

Scores each of the 12 signs from 0 to 8 points for every planet, and adds them into a total (Sarvashtakavarga) that shows which signs and houses of your chart are traditionally more supportive.

Why it matters

It turns a chart into numbers you can scan: which houses have many 'bindus' (points) and which have few. Astrologers use it to judge the quality of a through each sign.

How it is worked out

  1. Each of the seven planets has a fixed table saying which signs, counted from itself and from seven other reference points (the other planets and the lagna), receive a point.
  2. Add the points for each sign into one chart per planet (Bhinnashtakavarga).
  3. Add all seven charts into the Sarvashtakavarga (SAV); the grand total is always 337, so the average is about 28 per sign.

How to read your result

  • The heat map: darker cells are signs where that planet gave more points. Click a cell for the exact value.
  • The bar chart of SAV by house: bars above the 28 line are traditionally read as supportive, below as weaker.
  • Totals per planet show the planet's overall tally.

What it cannot tell you

A mechanical scoring system with fixed tables; its link to real outcomes is traditional only. The checksum of 337 confirms the arithmetic.
