What it does

Ranks the seven planets by how far they have travelled inside their sign. The planet furthest along is the Atmakaraka ('soul significator') and the one least far is the Darakaraka ('spouse significator').

Why it matters

The Jaimini system, an alternative to the Parashari system, reads these planets as the key actors in a life story: the Atmakaraka for the core purpose and the Darakaraka for partnership themes.

How it is worked out

  1. Take the sidereal degree each of the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn has completed within its own sign (0° to 30°).
  2. Sort highest to lowest. Seven karakas result: Atmakaraka, Amatyakaraka, Bhratrikaraka, Matrikaraka, Putrakaraka, Gnatikaraka, Darakaraka.
  3. Ties within one arc-minute are flagged because the order would be uncertain.

How to read your result

  • The bar chart shows each planet's degree within its sign, so you can see how close the contest was.
  • The Atmakaraka is at the top, the Darakaraka at the bottom.

What it cannot tell you

Some schools use eight karakas (including Rahu) or different tie rules; the tool states the seven-karaka scheme. Jaimini readings are a distinct tradition from the Parashari rules used elsewhere.
