Understand this calculator

What it does

Scores each planet's strength in six classical ways, adds them up in rupas and compares each planet with the minimum the tradition expects.

Why it matters

It answers 'which of my planets is strong?' using the Parashari method rather than a single factor like sign.

How it is worked out

  1. Sthana bala: strength from position (sign, dignity, divisional placement).
  2. Dig bala: strength from direction (angles of the chart).
  3. Kala bala: strength from time (day or night, Moon's phase, weekday and so on).
  4. Chesta bala: strength from motion. Naisargika bala: natural strength. Drik bala: strength from aspects.
  5. The six are added in virupas (60 virupas = 1 rupa) and divided by the planet's required minimum to give a ratio.

How to read your result

  • The stacked bars show how much each of the six strengths contributes to each planet.
  • The marker shows the required minimum: a planet whose bar passes it (ratio of 1 or more) counts as strong.
  • The 'rank' lists planets from strongest to weakest by ratio.

What it cannot tell you

Some sub-calculations use simplified conventions (listed under 'approximations', such as no planetary war and a simplified motion strength), so numbers can differ a little from other software. Strong or weak is a traditional rating.
